The gym owner and I had a chat yesterday and he says that it's important to work in a comfort zone. Any input on this, guys?

I always thought it was a lazy persons place :( because for any sort of sports you need to get out of your comfort zone and push yourself to do more.

The guy told me that you can't work through the pain each time.

Sounds like he is a trying to be helpful..but every body is different..I have a 60 y/o female client who can handle anything I throw at her and she will grit her teeth and work thru it. Then I have a 34 y/o guy who is in good shape but starts to damn near cry soon as he feels lactic acid in his muscles...so the gym owner may not be able to push thru the pain...that has no reflection on whether or not you can MG;)

I can handle the pain and I push myself to the limits or beyond but I think that listening to my body might be a good idea sometimes. I have had muscle sprains/strains, tendonitis, muscle tear before because I kept lifting through the pain.

Sounds like he is trying to get you to slow down a bit so that your body is still rested. Hope that you are keeping in your comfort zone?? :spank prob not knowing our MG.

He doesn't understand why women want to be big. He says that I'm already bigger and stronger than all the females at my gym and doesn't understand why I want to build more muscle instead of trying looking like a fitness model .... you're right, Rhi, he doesn't know me :D

If I had read this last year, I would have agreed with him. But from what I have been told and read its a lifestyle. If you are going to be a bodybuilder why only go a little way, go all the way. This is interesting, actually had this bookmarked Bodybuilding.com - Why Do You Love Bodybuilding? (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/lovebb.htm)
Muscles are Power -By Stasia Bachrach
And I'm not just talking strength power. Coming from a 45 year old female bodybuilder, not only does bodybuilding keep me mentally sane, muscles give presence.
I stand taller and with better posture and exude more of an air of confidence than ever before. Confidence is often a missing component in many women's lives. Bodybuilding turns that around 180 degrees.
I'm not talking egotistical princess here, just confidence in one's own abilities which crosses over into all areas of life and also is an aid in facing life's obstacles which usually come out of the blue at the most inopportune moments. I'm totally addicted to my six days a week in the gym and constantly am pushing myself farther than the workout before.

No pain no gain. I like to stay somewhat in my confort zone but theres a time you need to go beyond that sounds like if you do that you are just spinning your tires and making no gains.

You're right, Gator and that's why I was a bit confused when the gym owner told me to stay in a comfort zone. There is something else that I haven't told you: he doesn't understand why a woman wants to be big

He's hardly there. He's a krav maga instructor. There is no "supervisor" at the gym, only a guy who calls himself a personal trainer but never wears a short sleeved t-shirt or shorts ....

For anyone like me who has no idea what that is lol Krav Maga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krav_Maga)
Sounds like its not a properly run gym, maybe look for another one? Sorta doesnt make any sense if you dont get any support there to be there. O no, a personal trainer who doesnt wear tshirts and shorts :( lol Doesnt sound like a very good gym MG.

Well there is still time for her to comment and get mad at me as well :( we will be in the bad books together LOL
You need support at any gym that you join. People who know what they are doing or you will end up hurting yourself. Its okay to say that you know how to do stuff on the machines etc but a person who knows what they are doing can also give you advice.

Why do you have to wear shorts or a t-shirts to be a trainer. I know several old school BB that are now trainers that wear sweat shirts and sweat pants ED and i mean ED. That dont have to flash there muscles to know that they have them.
