I am sure you guys have heard about McGwire admitting steroid usage... what's your take??...should he have kept quiet or is coming clean the right thing to do? The reason I ask is, I write a column for the local newpaper and I want some "athlete's " opinions. I know what the morons in the media think...so give me some real life feedback...;)
Thanks

Yes, defintely the right thing to do. Got to be honest with everyone or else not being honest with yourself. It may help a little with voting of HOF even though I do not think he deserves to be in it among other steroid-positive athletes. Ok, Bonds your fat*ss is next....

Hes got a job now that he came clean. I think he should be in the HOF but believe that his chances now are slim to none due to this.

Thanks guys!! Appreciate the input. Anyone else want to chime in on this?? And I agree...he should be in the HOF...no matter what chemical's he may have used, he did bust his ass in the gym and on the field!

He shoulda manned up in the beginning. To lie about it for years then suddenly come clean makes him look like an even bigger ass. What's the point.

you got to remember that there are 164 (not sure exact figure) plus preseason and playoffs so a whole season is very long and tiring...a lot of guys stats start to fall in 2nd half of season but when on juice, it helps prolong playing abilities not to say the explosiveness, strength, and other benefits from it. Yes, McGwire busted his ass on and off the field but still gained advantages. You have to have techniques when throwing/hitting the ball but when you're stronger and have more confident it's a whole new ballgame! There are many who been caught or will be caught and many who will never be found cheating....Babe Ruth has hit so many homeruns off of alcohol and sluts he brought in clubhouse...if that was Bonds or anybody else, their homerun total would be a different number...

Surprised to see such a negative view of Mark McGwire... I know he was certainly one of my favorite athletes growing up and like he said, gear doesnt help you hit a baseball. Theres no doubt in my mind that he belongs in the hall of fame and he didnt have any choice but to avoid the issue until now... how many of you admit to people when they ask you? I know I don't... he should just get a pass like everyone else from the era...

I understand what you are saying, and I sort of agree. My point was sort of that he should have taken it to the grave. What good did it do to come clean now. Most people have lost interest by now anyhow. It makes me kind of sick though that he tries to portray himself as a "victim"
What's that shit about wishing he hadn't played during the "steroid era". What a fucking cop out!

You know how the media is, you have to play to them, I would imagine theres more to the story that is unknown, such a possible positive test or being worried that his supplier would come forward, hence his avoidance of the issue for so long, I would have just stuck with the androstene story to my grave... I"M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT STEROIDS!!!
