I have had back pain for years now but a few days ago, after doing squats, not sure what I did but I could hardly walk for a day or two. I saw a physical therapist earlier today and after only one session, I feel better already. I had a lumbago (caused by muscle strain ...). I have to take it easy and put a thick cushion behind my back whenever I remain seated for too long.
I wish I had muscle relaxers because I don't like anti-inflammatories.

I have seen a physical therapist. After a session, I feel better but after an hour or two, the pain is back and sometimes I can't get up. Pain is worse in the morning when I get up or when I remain seated for a long time. I don't want to eat Ibuprofen like candies but what else can I do?

Thats about it. I take them like they are candy you can strech and maybe buy a inversion table. But if there is damage back there theres nothing you can really do. I will always be in pain some days are bad and others not so bad. I refuse to have surgery I don't think its needed in my case.

I remember the posts about your back issues, Gator, you were in a lot of pain. I always forget to stretch after a workout but I'll put a reminder in my training journal from now on.
As you say, some days are bad and others not that bad. I just have to live with it :)
Are there exercises you avoid at all costs like squats for example?

Yes I will never squat or deadlift. I am really staying away from things that compress on my disc. Even that calf machine were you put the bar on your shoulders and push up with your calfs out of the question for me.I do notice its getting better I just have to think now before jumping right in.

I'm gonna skip deadlifts and squats from now on. I do seated calves, so I can keep doing those. Thank you, Gator :)

No promblem MG ya you don't want to screw it up worse than it is. Theres are a ton of things to do for your legs. I have to admit squats and dead lifts are great for putting on size oh well.
