View Full Version : My Back Injury
As most of you know 'as I cried like little biatch :p' I put my back out yesterday.
I was hopeful that the ice and meds would help. Well I woke up today and it's much, much worse. I am literally screaming in pain when I try to move even the slightest bit. The pain has also moved from my lower back into my hips area and even down into my ass/legs.
It continues to spasm, I fear I did some real permanent damage this time.
Even standing is a no go, I was so hoping it would be better today so I could hit the gym, even a light session being careful on the back.
I am pretty much bed bound atm. Only able to get to the bathroom via extreme pain.

You have to see a doc, hun. The fact that the pain is getting worse is a sign that there is something wrong. X-rays or an echography will determine how big the damage is. Don't wait, please ..

Damn bro that really sucks. Ice it for 20min every hour try to keep the inflammation down that will help alot. Most important is no gym time for at least a week hopefully you just pulled some muscles. Are you filling and numbness in your legs or buttock area ?
Gator

That could be anything. I would most definitely get it looked at and not by a chiroprator there x-rays don't really show you much inless its a cracked verbrate or something if keeps bothering you. You need a MRI

How are you feeling today? Is it still the same? or worse? If nothing has changed, please see a doctor, stay safe. A back injury isn't something to be taken lightly.
feeling about the same, going to sleep now ;)

I agree, the pain shouldnt be getting worst.
Going in for my MRI tomorrow morning. Back is better, the initial blow is gone but now I feel like there is something torn in my right side/lower back area. Just feels torn, like any torn muscle or similar.
Still hurts, but MUCH better than what it was. The muscle relaxers, pain pills and anti inflammatory must have finally done their job. Having numbness in my feet, legs and hands though.
Just got back from the specialist. More damage, the 2 lowest disks are totally degenerated plus I have a severely herniated disk as well.

F*ck man are you serious Im very sorry to hear that. Well its not the end of the road but you need to realize there are somethings you need to stop doing immediately or you can be crippled in constant pain or even worse in a wheel chair. So whats your plan what do they recommend you to do.
They told me no dead lifts, nothing like that ever again. A spinal fusion might be necessary :(

Ya once its herniated there's really no way around that. Keep the surgery for the last option the stretches and PT have me at a good road to recovery so far. Im still in constant pain but I have a very physical demanding job also. The worse you can do for a back injury is just lay around its important to keep moving and stay very flexible. Also focus on training your core that might help prevent more injury once its ruptured than your really f*cked. Good luck bro and don't do any squats either.

Damn that sucks, dont know what to say :( Bright side, your not in a wheelchair and you can still do light training.

So what causes all that? Is it a hereditary thing? Were you in an accident? Man that really blows...I know how bad you wanted to get back to the heavies.
No idea, they said the 2 disks have been shot for some time. He was shocked my back is as bad as it is for my age.
I don't plan on letting it stop me, I'll be in a fricking wheel chair before I let it stop me.

Yeah, I agree, nothing good about putting yourself in the position of being in a wheelchair, you have to do all you can to fight that!! and if it means slowing down with the bb, then do it.

It's really just between you and your doctor. But please at least pretend that you are listening to your doctor's advice. And be careful when you do workout. :o
Did legs today for the first time since my back injury. Light and all on machines but it was still something. Even used the ab machine thing they have and did 4 sets of roman chairs w/o any weight.

Are you for real??? You will continue with the heavy weight lifting and dont care if you end up in a wheelchair?? I cant see whats wrong with not doing as much and NOT ending up in a wheelchair.
I want to be big ;) and yes I am for real.
I lost weight :( Wonder if it's my leg mass lost.

You're bigger than big already. I have to touch you to be sure that you're for real :p
Can definitely tell my low back is effecting my workouts all around, even my bench. I simply can't dig in on the heavy weights, today the highest I went up to was 355x2. Without being able to dig in like normal it's very, very tough with the heavier weights. Get to the point i feel like I'm going to fall of the fricking bench!

Its time to change gears bro. You might need to find something else to do maybe light weight or martial arts I know it sucks to hear that but heavy weight will have you in a wheel chair before your 35 and Fuck that no amount of size is worth that. The thing is surgery on a disc is not the way to go. if it was you knee or shoulder or elbow i would say the hell with it keep banging out the big weight you have a 95% rate of getting all healed up and back to normal with a tendon or ligament surgery. When it comes to fusing disc you have a 50% chance of recovery and after the surgery I can guaranteed you will never be the same.
I simply can't give up the heavies, I would rather be in a wheel chair ;)

It sucks finding out whats wrong. Before I found out about my back I had great workouts but my back was always sore now that I know its a mind over matter thing. If I fill pain I won't even try to push it. I don't know how you are doing it I can barley make it threw 8 hrs of work maybe Im just a pussy :o
If I had to do your job I'm sure I'd be different ;)

Your doc wouldn't be happy if he read what you're doing ;)
Be careful, GRIM. Listen to your body (in this case, your lower back). I know how frustrating it can be but your back is more important than super heavy weights.

Thats a dumb thing to say because when you are sitting in that wheelchair and watching your son race around the place, then you will wish that you had taken it easier. Will be too late then.
Bah, I gots to be big again!

Probably b/c you lift heavy. Whenever I do standing barbell press or standing military press, my back hurts (and I don't have your back injury).
Took the damn thing out again last week, first set of the day! It wasn't even much weight, doing rack pulls and I just felt something snap/tear. I finished up a real light day like 9 sets total, and tanned.
Tried to workout the next day but even holding light dumb bells hurt like a mofo. Took Friday off and the weekend.
Did chest yesterday, back still sore so I changed up my routine and wore my belt the entire time.
Went in today and did upper back with biceps, again changed my routine and went light but at least I got a w/o in!

It blows and it's not my only injury, but my worst! Torn rotator cuff I never got fixed slows me down big time, plus my knee I had 3 surgeries on. Other mics aches and pains, got I'm a wreck :p
