Change their own oil?

I used to swear I never would take my vehicles anywhere, but when I bought my Mazda 6 it was to low for my ramps so I took it in. Now I wont even think about doing it myself.

Guess I got lazy.

I dont change my own either. I dont want to do any work on my own cars, and I am certified to do it,lol. I just dont want the bother anymore. They have all the equipment to do it so let them mess with it. I dont want to have to get down on the ground on my back and get oil all over my hands and arms, have it splash in my face and stuff. They are standing under the car when they do it and have you seen those guys hands, they always look all dirty and oily and stuff, even when they are cleaned up they still look dirty. Not for me anymore!!!

Plus having to deal with exchanging/recycling the oil and crap. I've priced it before and it's almost cheaper to have someone else do it.

Only problem is sometimes you get people who are idiots. My brand new car 'when I bought my mazda' the dumb fucks bent my dip stick and forgot to put the valve caps back on!

I take mine somewhere...I hate to do it, but I don't have the time, or tools/equipment to do it myself.

I used to change my own, but hell, these guys can do it faster and for about the same as it would cost me to do it. Not to mention I don't have to get dirty:cool:

Yeah it's not very often I here about guys changing the oil, well unless they are changing someone elses.I refuse to let anyone work on my vehicle unless its something I'm not set up to do or don't have the time.....always checking the Wardens oil whenever I can though;)

Got my oil changed and tires rotated today. Kind of pissed me off, I have the auto air pressure check built in 'forget the correct term' but they tell me that they don't know how to reset it so I might have to drive to the dealer 'an hour or more away' and pay to have them do it!

WTF they could not find out!

Plus they told me oil changes will cost $15 extra to take the pan off I have on my hummer. Their starting oil change is about $20, so almost double to take off a simple pan?

Is there not a plug for the pan.

Think you need to drop the plate before you can get to the pan.

I have mine changed. My time is worth more than the 1 hour it takes for someone else to do it.

Good call. I wouldn't want a guy who builds FORDS to be expected to know how to change oil! :D

That's funny Grim...
I change mine on my old ford..14 quarts of oil for my 7.3 diesel costs way to much to pay for them to change it...plus I can crawl under mine without a ramp or jack...also grease my chasis and steering linkage...but my wifes avalanche we have it done...too much "techno stuff" :swear on it for me...
