North American International Auto Show (http://www.naias.com/)

We are going this year! We've talked about going before, but then we forget about it until we see it on the news and then we kick ourselves for not going. But this year we are going to do it!!

Has anyone else ever been to it?

I have been to it a few times, I thought it was pretty cool. I heard this year they arent going to have as many displays as the past years. I helped set up and tear down the auto show in Detroit last year, I didnt get to help on this years because I guess it sized down some and they havent been putting no where near as many calls into our hall as they used to.

If I go, was hoping to see Shasta during his break.

No set in stone plans though.

His break from boot

Nothing set in stone, I only sent him a letter of the possibility and looked into it.

You could hit the casinos. There are alot of bars and clubs in and around detroit. There is the detroit institute of art and the henry ford. It depends on what you like really.

Good spot to stay at bro. You will be pretty centralized to most action around detroit.

Yes southfield is a good area. There are the bad parts just like any city but all the hotels and stuff are in the good area. Do you know what roads the hotel is on?

That whole area is good. I used to work not far from there at southfield road and 9 mile. Very easy to find and not too far from everything.

Football, baseball, hockey, basketball - depending on the season.

Sure. I've only had one car stolen from me while in Southfield.

Absolutely serious. It was a different hotel, but yeah. We were in the hotel to visit a friend that was staying there, and when we came out a few hours later there was a pile of broken glass where our car used to be. When we reported it to the hotel staff their response was "What? Another one?" And they reluctantly called the cops. The cops came and literally laughed at us because we didn't have an after market anti-theft device on the car.:mad:

I'm not from the Detroit area. All I know about Southfield is that I had a car stolen there. But that was a long time ago. Who knows what it's like now?

Absolutely true! I dont think I can name a city around here that hasnt had a car stolen from in it. Even in the ritzy areas like farmington hills or west bloomfield cars are getting stolen. Southfield isnt all that bad. Like I said I used to work out there and it seemed pretty quiet for the most part. You will get a few idiots that will drive 8 mile down from detroit and stuff, but the area your hotel is in is a good part of southfield. Now you get over by Lahser it is a different story cause you are right next to detroit.

The economy sucks. There wasnt no where near as many calls in our hall this year as the years past. I remember there being 250+ calls on a single day at the hall, this year I think the most on a single day might have been 35. The total number of calls this year wasnt even near 250, maybe 150 maybe!!!!

I'd never been there before, so I had no basis for comparison. I really liked it though. I think if there had been more people, I wouldn't have liked it as much.

But I got a free t-shirt from the Army guys while I was there. ;)
