Big block or small block for 1/4 mile times?

Discuss?

I am a firm believer there is no substitution for cubic inches. I love big block chevys. 427s for rpms and 468s for torque.

Mostly power to weight ratio and the car its going into. Also depends how you build each motor, ie Daily driver or one time down the strip or a 500 mile race. Supercharged, Turbocharged, nitrious or both. There are some mighty quick small blocks I've seen as well as the big ones

someday i will own a 67-69 Camaro SS with a 502 crate motor. I love big motors. The more CI the better. I was watching that gameshow on the speed channel the other day, and the one guy asked the driver. ...you running nitrous, and replies back, in a real redneck voice, NOPE, DON'T NEED IT.

He ran an 8.66 with no supercharger, no turbo, and no nitrous, just big CI. Gotta love it.

I had a car, 1.8l 4cyl... power to weight

136 kw / 800kg.

I ran a 13 flat..

Someone who can shift better then me, the car could have most likely run a 12.8 even 12.7 ...

It's all about the power/weight.

well I must be the only old school Small Block lover. When I was in Highschool- I had an 69 "RS" Camaro with the hide away headlights. I can't even count how many big blocks I ate with that car. I always loved the high RPM's that you just couldn't seem to drag out of big blocks. I did have a bad fall to a little ole Monza with a Chevy 302 tucked under the hood- that was one bad dude

me too- 69' has the best lines to me. When Chevy was looking at proto's for the new camaro- they had one that had the correct lines of the 69'. I told my wife if they make it- I was going to buy it. They didn't so thats that! The new one is growing on me, but the lines are wrong and I don't like the front end, other than that, they did decent on the rest-IMHO

ive got a 1992 honda civic 4 cylinder that will spank all yalls asses.

92 honda civic
1.8 liter acura gsr engine built and tuned (bulletproof) sleeved block
single turbo ( wont get into too many details unless i have a challenger haha)
3 diferent tune settings
tune #1 93 octane pump gas 14-18 psi boost /daily drving
tune #2 103 octane race gas 19-20 psi boost/when im feeling froggy
tune #3 113 custom blend octane (might as well be jet fuel) 23++ psi boost
integra gsr tranny with type r limited slip diferential

horsepower: tune #1 390 @ wheels ( a very generous 390)
tune #2 477 @ wheels
tune #3 498 @ wheels (broke my dear friends very expensive dyno and almost launched car into wall so who knows the true reading 498 was the last reading the dyno picked up before R.I.P)
not to mention the car barely weighs 2200 lbs
bwaahaahaahahahahhahah! do i classify as a smallblock? i mean after all my engine block is very small and shy of 4 pistons compared to you american muscle car guys. any non believers? lemme know i will see what i can do about gettin sum pics/vids up. this cars does not belong to me anymore. as most of us do , we build perfection and still not happy. its still in the family though ( my cousin bought it for a sweet deal i hooked him up killer deal 5K. hell i had that invested in the turbo alone. ):D
