Can anyone suggest a good youth bow? Hopefully a compound, for my son who is 9 'but every big for 9'

I don't want to spend a fortune, but do want something built fairly decent.

Will only be used for target practice.

Check into mathes and solo cam. I am not a real big bow hunter but still have a nice medium grade one.

Looking in my Cabelas 2008 archery catolog there are several youth bows in the 250/300 dollar range that are very nice. They come fully rigged and need only arrows to shoot. You can call them for a catolog at 1-800-237-4444 or go on the web @ www.cabelas.com and look at them. Personally I like the Diamond Edge setup for $299. You may check with a local outdoors shop if you have one local.

Peace,

Checked them out a bit, if I get a chance I'll go to the local one. Well it's not local, it's an hour away or more, but from what I hear it's MASSIVE!

I got a Parker for my ex a few years ago! It is a sweet shooter, and way better than any jack off "youth bow" on the market. It adjusts from like 40 to 55 pounds, but I think you can get it lighter. Wouldn't suggest it though, unless you don't mind buying another bow very soon. I think thirty pounds is about the bottom limit of legality for deer in most states. My little girl can handle thirty, but she probably isn't near as big as your boy. Gander Mountain used to carry the bow I am talking about. If there is one near you, take him there, and those guys will help fit him(hopefully). Some staff is better than others of course, but where I bought mine, the pros had my ex in the rings with her bow before we left the store.

Still got the bow by the way-won it in the divorce. My fiance will be shooting it this year:p

Cool there is a shop in my old town that has tons of bows, maybe I'll stop there and see if they can hook me up with something.
