a few days ago i tried to see how heavy i could go on dead lifts for 8 reps using no straps or gloves... i got up to 315lbs for 6 reps, but couldnt grip long enough to finish off the last 2. next to me was a massive powerlifter id say he was 6'5" and easily over 300lbs. he offered me some hand chalk, and i said do i really need it? well i took him up on his offer and i was totally shocked by how much my grip increased! i could grip the 315lbs fairly easily and got it up for 10 reps. i started increasing the weight by 10 lbs on each side... i got up to 355lbs for 8 reps. by then i was so wore out after doing 8 sets of deadlifts i decided to call it quits before i threw up all over the place! needless to say, im using chalk from now on!
Awesome!
I keep telling myself to get some chalk but keep forgetting it.

Its hard at times:D but it helps me stay in there longer. Plus it gets me worked up for when i go home and the wife doesnt have to work as hard either.;)

Hell yeah...chalk will boost those intense lifts, especially when you are working hard and sweating your ass off. Try chalk on the pull downs or chins too...watch how much better you get:p
I usually(okay...it's been awhile since I got to the gym)work up to the heaviest of heavy sets with just some chalk, then throw on the straps to really squeeze out the heaviest of sets!
