I love bow hunting. I haven't been able to get out for 3 seasons now, and I am having serious withdrawals. Hopefully I will be getting a new bow this year and finally getting back into a treestand. I am already "wet" with anticipation. Two years ago I bought a Mathews Switchback. I never got to hunt with it, but it was the absolute sweetest bow I ever shot, and I have shot a lot of bows over the years.
This year, I am leaning to the Mathews DXT. I can't wait to shoot that-anybody here shoot one yet?

I have heard good things about it fast as hell. I take it you lost your last one in the fire. Deer season is about months away down here. Cant wait. Not real big in the Bows its to damn hot and the bugs and rattle snakes kinda make me stay away but gonna go a few times then anyway.

Yeah the new DXT is pretty much the swithchback with some new bells and whistles. Mathews always adds a little something to the bow every year in order to sell it as the "new bow". I went last year to buy the switchback and left with a Bowtech Black Ice. It felt alot smoother to me and only shot about 25fps less than the mathews and $300 less money. Still had a grand in it by the time it was rigged out. These things are as much as a rifle now !!!

Peace,
MWM

Yeah, I shot the Bowtech, and I liked it alot, but the mathews just feels so much better in my hands:cool: I had 1400 in my switchback. I was shooting tight groups at 70 yards with it...man I miss that bow.

Heck bro...I'd never shoot at game that far. I've taken shots out to 40 yards with success. I might try 50 if it was a monster buck that I may never see again. You have a responsibility to the animal-at least that's my belief. I have lost one or two deer in the past, and I still feel sick about it.

I will shot up to 40 yrds with a bow lost a doe last year looked for it or 3 rs never had any blood found the arrow passed straight thru no blood what so ever. I can pattern up to 55 yrds pretty tight after that i am not consistant at all. Hands arent that steady.

It sucks to lose one. First time it happened to me-I shot a doe right through the neck-quartering to me and the string hit my sleeve:eek:
To make it worse, she was with a fawn. She went about 20 yards and laid down-that fawn just kept bawling and stomping it's feet until she finally got up and walked off. I was sick to my stomach. Tracked her for about 50 yards, then-no blood at all. Believe it or not, I saw her and that fawn again two days later-she seemed no worse for wear. Must've just got into some muscle, but for two days I was just so mad at myself.

Yeah i try and not shot the ones with fawns. Had one a couple years ago came out and fed for a second made sure it wasnt a button looked for her younins didnt see any and shot. Not 10 seconds later here comes her fawn starting bleeting and bleeting wouldnt leave started licking its mothers head i almost felt bad gave it a warning shot and it took off. Just sux though cuz i dont like shotting does with fawns like for them to be at least 1/2 year old a weened off the doe.

Next time...shoot the fawn too! We are overrun with deer here anyhow. No better eating than backstraps from a fawn-mmmm mmmmm mmmm!
