View Full Version : Resistance Bands
Been playing around with them on the 1/2 rack, mainly doing incline presses. Have also figured out a way to rig them up for standard bench.
I get and feel that they hit the upper range, am I however correct if you were to over use them that your lower range 'chest' will be adversely effected?
I'm trying to figure out exactly how I want to keep them into my workout, possibly only using them once a week 'I do 2 different chest days, 1 chest and 1 chest/tri'

I can tell you that If you work out your pectoral minor more that it will develop more, but that being the case, the extra pull in the upper area you may be feeling in your anterior delts from the extra resistance. could be wrong.
I'm only using the 'pink' bands to start, I think they are 30-50 pound rated. I'll just take it slow and see how it goes.
I'd just hate to lose chest power.

well like you said, Howabout trying to make them an addition instead of substitute
Ill tell ya what though. if you work out your pectorals minor(upper chest) and build it up, your whole chest will be all around stronger.
I think that will be the plan, an addition ;)
Yeah I'm psyched on building my upper chest. We didn't have any incline presses at my gym. Since i sold my equipment about a year ago I have not been able to do anything other than smith incline 'which sucks' and dumb bells. Dumb bells are ok, but my gym only goes up to 100 lb. Now I can do both incline and decline, hoping for gains!

im sure youll get them. especially if you havent done much inclined work with your max potential
I'll tell you one thing, I'm LOVING wide grip inclines. So much more ROM compared to standard wide grips, for me at least ;)

make sure you properly warm up your rotator while using wide grips
Yeah I tore my chest one time doing wide grips, once is enough to realize you need everything ready to go before going wide.
I don't do any wide grips until I've done some standard or in grip press warm ups first.

what do you do for your roatator?
Nothing in particular, I will do some light stretching if I don't feel warmed up enough before hand.

i just started adding cable movements for my rotator.
How those working out?
I had been doing cables on my shoulder days for the past 2 months or so, today though I skipped that part of my shoulder workout.

I do light weight, and its with my arms at my sides but bent at a 90o angle and pull the cable from my chest outward keeping my upper arm at my side the whoe time. I feel a bit more strength and stability since ive been doing them
Used the green bands today 50-80 pound resistance and wow that sure hits the top end!

try this sometime, on a seated row, sit close up so your knees are sticking up and with your elbows on your knees try curling with your favorite short bar, sort of like preachers curls
